Our e-learning courses for doctoral candidates provide you with an introduction to key topics in good scientific practice and research data management.
The courses were developed by the GraduateCenterLMU to supplement existing teaching and information offerings from central institutions such as the University Library, as well as from faculties and departments. They are available on Moodle, LMU's central learning platform, and are offered in German and English.
In order to work independently on your own research project, it is essential to be familiar with the specifics of academic work and the rules of good scientific practice. All members of LMU Munich who are involved in research are obliged to follow the principles of good scientific practice (Regulation of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München for Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice, PDF).

Each module concludes with a few short questions on the content presented. After successful completion of the course, a certificate (confirmation of participation) can be requested. Each module takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

The course offers a practical introduction to handling research data — from planning and organization to documentation, storage, and archiving — and complements the content of the e-learning course 'Scientific Integrity and Good Scientific Practice.' The aim is to sensitize doctoral researchers to the importance of structured and sustainable data management in their own research projects.
The course concludes with a few short questions on the content presented. After successful completion of the course, a certificate (confirmation of participation) can be requested. The course takes approximately 1 hour to complete.
